The alpha king’s mate and child on the run

Alpha Ajax inhaled deeply as he stepped out of his carriage, standing there for a while to appreciate the sunny day, visualizing how today's gathering was going to be before he strode into the hall with a big smile on his cold face.

As he went up the stairs to his seat as one of the high-ranked Alpha he had his eyes on Alpha Tyler, playing his card on repeat in his head, he needed to win the prize and he knew he would get it, he always does.

He sat quietly, letting the knights start the game creating his opening to strike.

"You can't just peel me off my rights as a ruling alpha" Alpha Tyler growled leaving the room in an intense silence.

"Well, we just did, now go back home like a little puppy that you are" Alpha Magnus barked back in a mocking tone.

" You can't disrespect me, I am one of the oldest Alpha here!" Tyler's heart raced at the insult but there was little could do, he had to save the dignity of his pack first.

" Action speaks louder than words they say" another Alpha from the row cut in.

" You can't just push me out here like nothing, my father died for this land, my ancestors were the building foundations" Alpha Tyler boosted shamelessly, ferociously turning into a wolf.

" you can't just do this, you can't just do that, who do you think… Alpha Magnus, who was more than ready to push him out, was cut short by Alpha Ajax with no form of respect.

Alpha Ajax placed his right leg over his left, creating a poise after patiently watching Alpha Tyler, settling his thoughts for the right time to hop in and play his card,

" why don't you try adding more prestige to the family glory? Most wolves seated here think you are dragging not just the glory of your family in the mud but all of ours. Now, do you think that's fair?" He raised his full brow expecting the simultaneous affirmation from the other Alphas.

" it was an unavoidable mistake" Alpha Tyler defended,

his heart raced faster, and beads of sweat started to lie on his head

" Do you have any male pups? Alpha Ajax asked with so much curiosity on his face, fully aware of the answer to his question he didn't give Tyler a chance to answer,

"You couldn't make one, evidently,

there would have been no one to teach him how to be a responsible man or wolf" Ajax taunted without a slight change in his cold face.

Murmurs went coherent in the background with laughter and side talks, Alpha Tyler gritted his teeth trying to keep his claws in from acting on his repeatedly bruised ego,

Alpha Ajax stood to his feet and everyone went silent " To save you further humiliation, I am willing to help you restore your place in this circle if you are ready to bring your daughter to me".

Astonished by his offer the murmurs started to grow again, Alpha Tyler relaxed with a frown face, thinking of his odds already

"What? As a slave? He questioned.

Alpha Ajax smirked," Is that how low you think of yourself and your family? " enjoying the expression on Tyler's face, he bruised his ego again.

" Excuse you? " Alpha Tyler's eyes glowed with rage.

Alpha Ajax snapped into a full wolf and snarled, he jumped from his seat to Alpha Tyler's front,

Turning back into human,

" Could you take me down to take back your place? " he asked with their eyes locked in, Alpha Tyler tried to make a fierce look but anybody could sense how fidgety he was underneath.

There was no response,

" That's what I thought but regardless you have to think highly of yourself, I don't need your beautiful daughter to be my slave nor did I say she was going to be my Alpha queen" Ajax cooled the tension with a friendly smile,

He watched Alpha Tyler sigh.

" By sunset, I need a response," he said as he patted his left shoulder and walked out.

Alpha Tyler went back home not sure if any of his ancestors had gone through that much humiliation during their lifetime, but somehow after their deaths he managed to drag their names in mud, the scenes from the gathering kept rewinding in his head, Alphas he was centuries older than brought him low.

Seeing that he had no choice, he called his pack to their round table as soon as he got home,

"Time is running out, we need to decide" Alpha Tyler hastened, everybody around the table seemed undecided, looking out of ideas, the zeta voiced out

" Are you sure he has no ulterior motive? ".

Out of patience and full of frustration, Alpha Tyler barked,

" I can unquestionably make this decision myself but I just thought we should do this as a family, she is my daughter anyway and your opinion is not needed".

"I don't want to go to him, Father" Cora objected even if she knew how stubborn her father could be, looking into her mother's face to convince her man.

" I don't think you have a choice" his father slammed back at her and rose to his feet, everybody's eyes were on him as he paced for a while.

" Tyler, you can't just push her into this, moreover this seems suspicious" Cora's mother opposed calmly.

" the fact that she has no mate yet is suspicious Laura".

The table went silent again, everybody occasionally staring at themselves, Cora became more uneasy as minutes passed, Laura sensed the increase in her precious daughter's heartbeat and oozing nervousness, she felt the need to save her daughter from falling into the hands of a deadly man.

" Giving her off to him doesn't guarantee him being her mate" Laura tried to persuade again.

" Are you all saying I lose my ruling power, and we all lose our dignity as a pack because our little princess doesn't want to leave her mother's nest? " Alpha Tyler asked full of desperation and frustration, when he noticed some supporting faces he continued,

"Can you all check the for and against? She goes to him and becomes his unofficial queen and we gain our dignity, what are we all scared of? " at the end of his sentence he could feel the whole room agreeing with him except, of course, Cora.

" unofficial queen?"Cora repeated after him with her brows up transforming her nervousness into pure anger.

" Why does she have to be unofficial? " Laura questioned placing her hands on her daughter's hoping to calm her down.

" Nothing goes for nothing, and having her unofficial is a tad, to even think of Alpha Ajax having one of ours should be a win for the pack"

Cora gazed at her father and walked out in tears her mother followed leaving the rest of the pack in dilemma.

Cora's eyes had never gone dry since the meeting last night, she kept being optimistic, hoping her father would listen to her " This is not fair Father" but her father being an expert in turning a deaf ear didn't.

" I thought we were settled on making a sacrifice"Alpha Tyler rolled his eyes, folding the paper he was accessing.

"Isn't this too much sacrifice for me?" facing her father equally so he could see her teary face.

Lost of words to say, wishing her mother was here to handle this, he looked away from her,

"Could you go faster " he instructed the coachman, after a minute's silence

"great things are achieved from big sacrifices", he tried to comfort her.

" great thing as making me fill in for your failure" aggressively passing her pain through words.

" Cora!" he shouted not being able to take insult from his daughter too,

they both stayed silent as the carriage went on with Cora's sob filling in the silence.

" You can't remain with your mother forever, Cora," he tried to appease her after he had relaxed.

" Not to leave her to a ruthless man I barely know, you are primarily selling me off".

" stop thinking like a damn featherhead, wipe those tears, we are almost there, you are starting to really piss me off" his tone seems more like a threat at this point, the sort that keeps everyone quiet and ready to obey.

" No, he will see me so ugly, his eyes will carve in out of horror".

Alpha Tyler cackled" A man that leads a pack shall be terrified of a woman's tears, you still haven't grasped what is going on".
