The Moonlight Heartbeats

Chapter 1

It's the first time I've been back in the classroom. I couldn't eat because of the lack of appetite and apparently I wasn't hungry either. It's good that our first afternoon subject teacher didn't come.

I was tired sitting in my seat. Karen immediately came to me while Jerson sat next to me.

"Jerson told me that you talked to Ellandro! Is that right?" Karen asked eagerly. I nodded slowly.

"What happened? Is it okay?” Jerson. I winced as I remembered what happened earlier.

"I think... It's okay" or not? I was really confused by his expression earlier! I can't tell if it accepts my sorry or not.

Time passed and our teachers came one after another. Karen returned to her seat and did not turn in our direction. Jerson, on the other hand, focused on the discussion because a week ago he was unable to attend class due to their volleyball practice.

I fell on my forehead. Right! Intramurals are on Friday. For sure tomorrow, all the different departments will be rehearsing the dance we will present. I'm the representative of our section for the leading position, so my place is definitely in the front. It is also possible that Ellandro will see me— Wait! Why am I thinking about him again? I don't need to know anything about him! I'm done apologizing to him so I don't have to think about him anymore. But no matter where I turn in every corner of the classroom, he still bothers me!

Until the end of the whole class, his name still didn't leave my mind. I suddenly stood up and violently grabbed my bag. I was lazy when I looked at Karen and Jerson.

"Let's go together?" I said. They both shook their heads.

"Did you forget that we have swimming practice today?" Karen said with a smile.

"Intramurals are on Friday so we have volleyball practice today. Next time we will go together." Jerson. I nodded and was the first to leave.

I was still on the oval ground walking towards the gate when I felt the students whispering behind me. I was tormented by nothingness.

"He kidnapped Ellandro from Elyse!"

"Maybe not-"

"Shut up! Everyone can see his kiss!"

"There's Elyse!"

I immediately turned on my back. I immediately received a strong push from the group of women.

I looked annoyed at Grace, the popular bully, who pushed me.

"What is your problem?" I'm crazy here.

"You!" he shouted, causing other students to stop to watch us.

My eyes immediately landed on Elyse, the school genius representative and the rumored girlfriend of Ellandro. Almost everyone said they were in a relationship because they often talked and were both smart. They are also often together because Ellandro and he are the representatives in the school when there is a match for intelligence. At first I didn't believe about their relationship and I didn't even care but I felt my heart hurt when I saw how Elyse cried.

His tears don't stop flowing and his friends support him.

"See what you did to Elyse?! Your face is really thick enough to kiss her boyfriend!” Grace shouted at me. I kept looking at Elyse. Her eyes are puffy. He was crying too much.

"Elyse, It was just a dare." I said. He met my eyes angrily.

"B-but you still hurt me." even when crying, his voice is still very low. That's why it often captures the hearts of men.

I kept my mouth shut. I can't speak because of the feeling. I feel so guilty but I can't say a single word 'sorry' because there is something on my throat that hurts.

So is it true that Elyse is Ellandro's girlfriend? I should not have wondered at the beginning. They are perfect. Their looks are like a God and Goddess. They both come from rich families. It's like squeezing my heart while thinking that they really are. Why am I feeling this way? I do not know! I'm really hurting right now!

"Sorry, Elyse. I'm sorry for what I did. I-I don't want to do that but I have no choice. It was just a dare! There is no malice in that! Hope you will understand!" I said, almost begging.

I know I'm a brave person. I'm not quick to say sorry unless I know the mistake I made. Like now. My conscience can't handle it when they fight or break up just because of me. I don't have a bad intention for the kiss. That's really a dare. Honestly, I admit that I was t'nga the day I did that. I didn't think of anything, as long as the important thing is that I can do the dare. So the result to my surprise is this.

"Come on, Grace. I got his sorry—” Elyse was cut off by Grace.

"That's not enough, Elyse. Is it okay to just say sorry? That kiss! It should be made to kneel before you!”

My brows narrowed. What the hell? His face is thick enough to understand our problem. He should be gone! He still interferes. It's like it's forcing Elyse to do something bad to me. How dare she! He is so angry, he is just a 'friend' of Ellandro's girlfriend!

"Excuse me—" I was cut off by a sudden slap. My head tilted a little because of the strength of its force. I was speechless especially when I realized that it was Grace who slapped me.

I heard the snoring around. I didn't immediately react to what was happening. My cheek hurt where I was slapped but I didn't care. My lips parted. Little by little I raised my head and looked at Grace.

I can also see how Elyse's lips parted because of shock.

“Grace. W-what—” again, Elyse couldn't finish what she was going to say because Grace spoke immediately.

"That should be yours!" it still pokes me.

Another slap was about to come but before her palm could land on my cheek I already landed my palm on hers. But what unexpectedly happened is I didn't slap Grace. My palm landed on Elyse's white cheek that is slowly turning into red. The students were surprised to see what I did. I was also surprised. The slap was supposed to Grace, but Elyse blocked in front of her! I panicked.

“I-I'm sorry—”

"What's happening here?" a cold voice from a man, echoed around. I gasped and even panicked more upon hearing his voice behind Grace. My eyes immediately darted in his direction as he walked fast to us. He stopped beside Me and Elyse.

My heart immediately throbbed when I saw his cold gaze on me. I almost fainted from nervousness. I just slapped his girlfriend! What a shame for me! I just apologized to him and then I'm just going to slap his girlfriend afterwards? I didn't mean it though.

“Uh- I-I didn't mean to—”

"Elyse, are you okay?" he turned to his girlfriend and the concern could be seen in his voice. When Ellandro turned his full attention to his girlfriend, Elyse leaned her head on Ellandro's hard chest. I swallowed at the sight.

"I'm okay." Elyse said calmly and modestly.

I looked at Grace as she started walking away with her other friends. I also looked back at the two. I was stunned by their position.

Elyse rested her head in his chest, while Ellandro is holding Elyse's head and shoulder gently.

Elyse moved and looked at me. Ellandro turned to me. His expression is now back to his usual cold look.

"I'm fine, Fhioresca. I know you didn't mean it.” she said and smiled at me. I sighed and nodded.

"Sorry." I glanced at Ellandro again before walking out of school.

I waited for a tricycle in the waiting area for several hours. Almost no one passed by because it was getting late. I sat on the bench. I took a deep breath because of the bitter feeling...

"Man! In the Vandeleur subdivision—”

"It's full." he said and apparently the tricycle started to leave the waiting area. Annoyed, I sat down on the bench again.

The bad luck of this night! The frequency of tricycles passing by is still full! I'm sorry but I still haven't gotten home.

"Ma'am, you are on board." I heard it just next to the waiting area. I turned around and saw a man in a bodyguard uniform. It supports a beautiful woman in, Elyse.

I noticed that there was another person watching us as Elyse entered her pick-up.

"Come on, Ellandro." Elyse's nanny. I suddenly got hungry. It's Ellandro!

"Go ahead Elyse. I have something to pick up.”

I don't know what happened next because I avoided looking in their direction. I just heard their car speeding away.

I hope everyone has a pick-me-up! It's your car because daddy picked up Mommy!

Someone suddenly sat next to me. When I turned to him, I was stunned. He just glanced at me then he took his cell phone out of his bag and focused his attention there. I smiled and looked away from him.

Calm down Fhioresca! That will also go away when his pick-up arrives!

A few minutes passed and no tricycle stopped at me. Maybe because the drivers know that I will be riding alone and they will think that it is a waste of gas so they will choose to look for more groups of passengers.

I rolled my eyes because of annoyance. I crossed my arms in front of my chest then I tilted my head sideways to stretch my neck. I looked at the edge of my vision, and saw Ellandro staring at me. I turned to him. From the moment our eyes met my heart fluttered.

"You haven't picked up yet?" I asked to remove the shame I felt. It's awkward!

He frowned. "I don't have anything to pick up." it said. My lips parted. He must have noticed my surprise because he quickly added what he said.

"I only said that so that I could not keep up with Elyse. I will just wait here for a tricycle.”

"Why? Don't you want your girlfriend to go with you? I-I mean, why don't you go with him?" I really couldn't stop my mouth!

"Because I saw you alone here, it is dangerous for you to wait at this hour. Perverts might come at you if they see you alone in here. That's why Elyse is herself. He also has bodyguards. What girlfriend?”

“Elyse. Your girlfriend, right?" I wondered.

"She's not my girlfriend. Who told you that?" he coldly said.

“She—”

"Will you ride?" we immediately turned to the tricycle driver. He didn't answer the question because I was going to get on board. I sat down and snuggled up to the edge so that Ellandro could sit down.

I was silent when he sat next to me. I couldn't turn to him or even move because I was worried about his arm sticking to mine.

"Where are you?" asked the driver.

"Vandeleur subdivision." I said.

"Del Salve subdivision." said the person next to me. The tricycle started immediately.

After a few minutes, the tricycle stopped outside the gate of the Del Salve subdivision. Just outside their huge gate, the many bodyguards were immediately noticed.

"Pay it." Ellandro handed over his payment to the driver. Manong immediately laughed when he saw the one thousand money.

"It's big, bro! Only dyes are needed!”

Ellandro scratched his neck. I find him cute so I secretly smiled. I took a twenty from my bag and handed it to the man.

"That's it. I've set him free." I said. Manong returned the one thousand to Ellandro.

"I can pay." he turned to me coldly. I look at it playfully. Until now it is still outside the tricycle. It still doesn't leave so the tricycle can't leave either.

"I know. But all you need is dyes and the amount of money you have! I'm free so I'm sorry!" I said. He later moved away from the tricycle. The tricycle started to leave.

My smile almost reached my ears. Should I leave what is happening to me? I just feel my good mood now. He almost turned his back on me every minute. He might be wondering why I'm so happy now. I just smiled and tried to be serious.
