About

“Greghard "Wolfy" Altman is his name. I hated the guy, I really tried not to hate him but everything about him didn't feel right and him being in our school alone didn't feel right to me, maybe because he was partly vampire and I was partly a witch. We were destined to hate each other for an eternity and being in the same pack only made things more difficult. But then one night, we were around a bonfire. He was sitting right next to me and in that moment I thought of the first thing I could do in order to avoid him, so I went to get myself a drink. Yet as soon as I walked passed him, I heard him say the word "mate", and I ran into the woods. On that same night, Greg followed after me and then he took what he wanted from me.”~ Elrich Mikaelson Mark of a Hybrid is the second book on The Forbidden Fruits novel sequence. A prequel to A Second Chance

Chapter 1 One

One night. Just one single night of sitting around a fire with a bunch of people I didn't want to be with, but I got emotionally blackmailed into it by PJ, so I didn't have much of a choice. I was even surprised he and Zack still wanted to be friends with me, after all these years of me isolating myself from them.

Tonight I still kept me to myself. Walking around the fire where everyone was gathered and soon standing closer to the fire where I was alone. PJ and Zack weren't around anymore and I didn't have someone to keep me company. Not that I needed someone to keep me company in anyway.

I sat down on a log and took out phone. Tonight was also the night of a full moon and it was normally nights like these where werwolves found their mates. Looking around I saw how all the girls were over the guys, waiting for that one moment or any sign that that guy could possibly be the ones. Maybe werewolves were lucky to know that there was that one person out there waiting to be united with them. I on the other hand, believed that I was cursed. There was honestly no way I would get a mate.

The fire did feel nicely warm and I thought that being here wasn't too bad since nobody was really bothering me and reading another Wattpad novel would be enough to help time pass. I was enjoying peace, until someone came sitting next to me and when I looked, it just had to be that one person. That one last person, I wanted to come and sit next to me.

Greghard Altman, or as the ladies love to call him, Wolfy. Oh, the guy had it all. He had the looks, the charms, including that mysterious bad boy vibe that would make any hormonal shewolf melt at the sight of him. He was cocky and arrogant, and last but not least, he was a vampire. Vampire and witches never mixed well.

“I didn’t think I’d find you here.” He said.

I looked at him and then looked around, even wondering if he was talking to me. Blue eyes, long dark hair, a squared jaw and a body to top it off. I mean I had to admit that he did have the looks at some point, but I was never one to openly accept that and even if I did, he wasn't my type. Did I even have a type.

I still had to answer his questions and deciding not to be rude, because that's what I promised Angeline, I thought of the shortest and nicest thing to say. “Well...the more the merrier I guess...”

He only gave me a smile and also started to stare into the fire. I on the other hand, looked back at my phone. I didn't want things to get too awkward and even hoped for something to come along that would distract the guy and swoop him away.

Instead, he remained seated next to me and pretty soon the rest of the crowd all came to sit around the fire.

“Hey!” I heard the voice of a female.

I turned my head and saw that the person was actually talking to Greg and even seated right next to him. Great, he was distracted.

I then got up from the log deciding to get myself a refill, and probably never come back. But just as I walked away from the fire there was this sweet scent that suddenly lingered in the air. It smelled sweet, but I couldn't tell what it smelt like exactly. It just made my head feel fuzzy but in a really good way and for some reason my heart started raising and it was like Luka, my inner wolf, was becoming active, which was too soon since the full moon hasn't even started yet.

I needed to find this scent though. I didn't know why so urgent and so sudden, but Luka was starting to become restless and I also didn't get why he was getting so excited.

I tilted my head up a little to sniff in the air for the scent, turning my head eventually being able to follow the source of the scent. It came from behind me, which was strange, because the fire should be putting out that smell. It should be smelling like burnt wood and ash.

So when I did turn around, my eyes landed on Greg. I saw he was staring at me too, but when I did try and look away my eyes didn't. It was as if for a brief moment they were standing still on their own, which meant that Luka had something to do with this.

Greg had the same look in his eyes and he stood up. I then heard him say the word. THE word!

“Mate.”

And so my whole body froze then and there. Luke was also getting ready to say the word and before he even dared to do just that, I mustered whatever strength I had in me and I ran. I literally turned around and I ran away, into the woods.

I kept running, pumping my legs and feeling the air moving pass my skin. I was running as if my life depended on it and the further I went away from the bonfire, the further away went the sounds and the light. I ran till I was in the middle of the woods, only then did I feel my legs suddenly weaken and it was like Luka was starting to build up resistance.

‘Must go to mate.’ Luka's voice said in my head.

“Not happening buddy!” I knew that if this kept going on, Luka would overwhelm me. He'd take control and run back there and bite into that man's shoulder, and the last thing on my mind was giving him a mark. I couldn't let that happen, especially not infront of everyone.

If I did shift now, then I would release a lot of tension making it easier for me to bounce back into full control instead of trying to resist till my will eventually just wouldn't be enough. I had to make this work and I had to clear my head. What happened tonight, was going to change everything.
